I am a licensed psychotherapist located in Durham, NC, offering therapy to teens and adults of all ages including seniors, from all backgrounds with different goals for treatment.  I am LGBTQ affirming and provide therapy through a lens of social justice to support and understand the background & uniqueness of each individual.

Working from a psycho-dynamic orientation with a relational approach, I strive to find a balance, reduce suffering, and create a non-judgmental space in our relationship to encourage growth.  I intend to really get to know you and your strengths, supporting and asking questions to explore how you can work toward the desired change.

My style is warm and person-centered, interactive, and relational.

I have experience working with Anxiety, Depression, Women’s issues, Aging, Relationship issues, and Stress management/Chronic disease prevention.  I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction, and draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These modalities and my experience, allows me to tailor treatment for each client.

Another area of focus is working with individuals and often their families or partners when there has been a health crisis, or is a Chronic condition, such as Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, Cortico Basal Syndrome, Dementia, Epilepsy, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), concussion/head injury, or Stroke. These circumstances bring anxiety, depression, and profound loss as we explore managing and restoring the quality of life desired and available. Grief is often here for the individual, partner and/or family. I intend to create a space where people have the permission to feel whatever comes up, and the spaciousness to explore.
